Hike overview
The hike to Holandsmelen leads to the top of this isolated hill that overlooks the western part of Vestvågøya island, offering an exceptional 360° panoramic view of the Lofoten Islands. Despite its modest elevation of 434 meters, this rounded peak treats hikers to spectacular vistas of the white sandy beaches of Vik and Haukland to the north, the Leknes plain to the south, and the impressive Himmeltindan massif, which rises to nearly 1,000 meters.
Accessible and family-friendly, this hike is an excellent introduction to the magnificent landscapes of Lofoten.

Difficulties of the hike
The ascent of Holandsmelen presents no technical difficulties. The trail, although unmarked, is well-trodden and easily identifiable. It begins with a gentle fifteen-minute climb through the woods before reaching a plateau at around 150 meters elevation. The final ascent to the summit is on a relatively steep east-facing slope, but remains accessible to most people.

Starting point
The trailhead is located on Route 7716, towards Haukland and Utakleiv. Free parking is available along the road.
