Hike overview

This coastal walk will take you to two stunning white-sand beaches: Petit Sperone and Grand Sperone, located in the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve. First, the route runs along Piantarella Beach and its magnificent turquoise lagoon before heading into the Corsican maquis. First, you will discover the cove of Petit Sperone, followed by that of Grand Sperone. The latter is less frequented due to the lack of direct car access.

Difficulties of the hike

This walk is very easy and presents absolutely no technical difficulty. The route is not marked, but there are signs to guide you along the way.

What you'll love

  • The Piantarella lagoon and its shades of turquoise reminiscent of the Caribbean.
  • The unexpected arrival at Petit Sperone beach, a real surprise when you come upon this cove with its pristine white sand.
  • Grand Sperone Beach, which is larger and generally less crowded. It offers a wild and peaceful setting with a south-facing view of the Lavezzi Islands.
  • The Piantarella archaeological site, home to an important Roman villa dating from the 1st to 4th centuries AD and one of the most significant Roman remains in southern Corsica.
