Difficulties of the hike

The ascent of Capu di u Vitullu requires considerable physical effort, with a 12.2-kilometer round trip and an elevation gain of 870 meters. The well-marked trail gently slopes up to the pass between Capu d'Orto and Capu di u Vitullu (at an altitude of about 1,150 meters) and mainly runs through the forest on a wide track that gradually turns into a trail.

Beyond the pass, the terrain becomes rockier, and the trail becomes less obvious. You can find your way by following the numerous cairns and keeping the summit in your sights. The last section requires going around Capu di u Vitullu from behind. Some sections require you to use your hands, but they are still very accessible and do not present any major technical difficulties.

What you'll love

  • The 360° panorama from the summit: On one side is the Gulf of Porto, Capo Rosso, and the Calanques de Piana. On the other side is the Ota Valley and the highest mountains in Corsica, including Cinto and Paglia Orba.
  • Very few visitors compared to other hikes in the region.
