Hike overview
ATTENTION: Following several accidents, access to the Purcaraccia waterfalls is regulated by a prefectural decree. From July 1 to September 15, hiking is prohibited unless you are accompanied by a professional guide. This decree is still in effect in 2025.
Set out on a must-see hike in southern Corsica in the Bavella Massif. Erosion caused by the Purcaraccia stream has carved out magnificent natural pools, connected by waterfalls and slides. This exceptional setting is a deep canyon lined with impressive walls and numerous peaks.
However, the large number of tourists during peak season can disrupt the tranquility of the area. Don't hesitate to go further upstream or come early in the morning to find serenity.

Difficulties of the hike
The trail is of good quality and partially shaded. Although the trail is not marked, cairns mark the way. Expect to encounter rocky passages that require the use of your hands for balance, as well as a few short exposed sections. You will also need to cross the stream several times, sometimes walking directly in the water.
What you'll love
- The magnificent natural pools with crystal-clear waters, ideal for a refreshing swim in an exceptional setting.
- The spectacular canyon lined with vertiginous walls over 600 meters high.
- The succession of waterfalls and natural slides carved into the granite rock over thousands of years.
